Flashback : JB trip

NEWS HEADLINE:

Malaysia's 'worst in the world' taxis tarnish national image

"The ads promoting "Malaysia: Truly Asia" aim to welcome visitors with a warm smile to a prosperous and modern nation, so the taxi fleet branded "the worst in the world" can come as a bit of a shock."

I wasn't really shocked upon reading this piece of news. I've heard really bad stuff about malaysian cabs. But to think back on our recent JB trip, we were quite lucky not to have encountered any of them. Maybe it was due to the very pathetic knowledge of the malay language that i have that the cabbies dare not play play with us.

Comparing to cabs in Singapore, i must say we are darn lucky. One thing to try when your in malaysia : Ask for the cabby to run on meter, and not on a flat rate. Try it, i dare you.
